All About Mama

As the phrase goes, “When Mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.” No one understands her more than a woman juggling all the roles that we chicks so often do. Mom, wife, friend, daughter, sister, employee, community volunteer, den mother/soccer mom/birthday party planner extraordinaire. Add to that list Domestic Goddess, Fiscal Magician and Chauffeur of the family minivan, and you have just about covered her average weekday morning before 10am. You name it. She’s done it.

Mama’s Happy is for her, or more aptly You, if she sounds familiar. We’re occasionally open, but always fabulous, with new finds each and every month. Chock full of beautifully displayed handcrafted, upcycled, repurposed and altogether dazzling home goods and gifts created by an eclectic group of bargainistas and artists who, like our shopping guests, want a Little Happy. A little something beautiful for the wall, corner or wardrobe that delights and satisfies.

I’m Amanda Ficek, Mama’s Happy proprietor and resident “Mama”. I juggle these roles as you do, but also wanted a lil’ somethin’ for me. My oasis in the midst of the Me I am in relation to everyone else. I’ve combined a 20-year career in fashion retail business and merchandising, with a personal passion for beautiful home decorating on a shoestring budget, and a need for female company and inspiration from a community of creative women, to create Mama’s Happy. The name comes from my southern heritage in Mississippi, where women know how to lavish attention on one another with gifts that don’t require an occasion. My “Gran” would coo, as she gave them, “Oh, it’s just a lil’ Happy.” As in, a gift I chose to give you just cuz I wanted to.

We invite you to join us the second weekend of each month, Thursday – Sunday for a fantabulous shopping experience, the opportunity to get your creative juices flowing, the chance to roam our shop with a hot cup of coffee for ideas and inspiration, and the chance to interact with other Happy Mamas like yourself.
